This is truely saddening. It’s very difficult viewing… but I think the word needs to be spread about this. How are these people even human? I really can’t understand why someone, no matter how low paid or whatever could abuse another person in this way, particularly vunerable people.
I hope when I am (finally) a doctor, if I ever see anything like this going on, I have the guts to stand up to them. The people standing by and watching are just as bad as the perpetrators, and the CQC should be ashamed of not discovering this.
Excellent work by this journalist. It must have been very difficult for him to watch all this without blowing his cover, but he has done well to bring attention to this issue.
The most heartbreaking thing is the parents of one of the patients involved had no idea; despite their daughter telling them she had been kicked, had her hair pulled etc, they told her ‘That would not happen’. And now their good faith has been shattered. We trust these people with our relatives and this is what they do. What if it was their sister, daughter etc?
Some people make me lose faith in humanity.
